The World Maritime Week in Bilbao. Practical information

The World Maritime Week in Bilbao is established as the major maritime and energy event of the Atlantic. This year 2019, it will celebrate its second edition from February 12 to 14, 2019. In this article, we review everything you need to know.

Program

For the event, the organizers have reserved all the available space at the Bilbao Exhibition Center (BEC), and just as on the previous occasion, 4 congresses will take place simultaneously:

  • Sinaval. International Shipbuilding Meeting that will continue to focus on the prescriber profile – shipping companies and charterers –. Likewise, it will also include a military day with a civil section, inviting professionals from maritime rescue, customs, and civil guard, among others.

       Targeted at: construction, repair, and auxiliary industry sectors.

  • Futureport. This year will focus its theme on digital transformation and the so-called “green ports,” aiming to attract operators and port authorities with investment projects.

Targeted at: port teams, security installations, port organizations, port services, port authorities.

  • Eurofishing. International Fishing Industry Fair with a special space for meetings of the Advisory Councils. This time, a day dedicated to tuna freezer vessels has already been confirmed, with participation from top-level African representatives.

Targeted at: professionals related to fish storage, processing facilities, preservation and handling of fish, fishing gear, shipyards, ship equipment, ship engineering and design, services and facilities, fishery research.

  • Marine Energy Week. About renewable and marine energies with sessions focused on oil & gas, ocean energies, and support vessels.

Targeted at: specialists in research, alternative resources, environment, marine energy industry, offshore wind, waves, and currents.

Schedule

The hours will be Tuesday to Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Three very intense days aiming to attract the most influential agents of the maritime industry and those interested in learning about the latest technological advances and seeking new business opportunities in the so-called “blue economy.”

Tickets

The ticket price is 300 euros for a single congress and 100 euros more for each additional congress or registrations of other people from the same company. In addition to access, it includes:

  • Sinaval/Futureport/Eurofishing Congress: 2 coffee breaks with speakers and congress attendees.
  • Marine Energy Week Congress: 1 coffee break and 1 cocktail with speakers and congress attendees.
  • Access to the World Maritime Week exhibition area with more than 100 exhibiting companies (the main national shipyards, auxiliary industry companies, especially propulsion, and sector organizations).

All exhibitors will also be able to attend the World Maritime Week Gala Dinner, the presentation of the FINE Awards, and private cocktails aimed at networking.

News

As news at World Maritime Week in Bilbao 2019, the intention is to intensify the interactions between different sectors by promoting B2B meetings. To achieve this, the number of invitations to shipowners and shipyards has increased, highlighting those from countries such as Norway, Germany, France, Italy, and Finland. In a second group are also Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. At the same time, the commitment to international sector meetings has also increased, as well as the attraction of prescribers.
