Bilbao Bilbao 2020 Cycling Tour. Information and where to stay.

One of the most anticipated events for cycling enthusiasts, the International Cycling March Bilbao-Bilbao returns in 2020. A perfect opportunity to discover some of the most spectacular landscapes of the Basque Country from your bike. We’ll tell you everything you need to know about this non-competitive event, which offers three different routes with varying levels of difficulty.

The International Cycling March Bilbao-Bilbao will take place on March 15, 2020.

Registrations
All those who have participated in the Bilbao-Bilbao March editions after 2013 will automatically receive an email with their registration number. Others can sign up via the official website. Registrations can also be done in person at the Zubiarte Shopping Center starting from March 11, 2020. The participation fee for the event is €25 (€20 if you have a federated cycling license). As an additional perk, with the receipt, you will receive a 50% discount on entry to the Guggenheim.

Routes for Bilbao-Bilbao 2020
Bilbao-Bilbao 2020 will offer three different routes depending on distance, ranging from the shortest of 85 kilometers, through the intermediate 115 kilometers, to the longest 125 kilometers.

85 Km – Short: A perfect route for those new to cycling tourism. The route under 100 kilometers will open at kilometer 60, at the aid station located in the Technological Park, between 11:25 a.m. and 12:35 p.m. The main mountain climbs of this route are Andraka (127 meters) and Unbe (197 meters).
115 Km – Classic: The most traditional route for athletes with some preparation. A route without major mountain complications that allows you to enjoy an unparalleled natural landscape. This section includes 3 additional mountain climbs to the short route, located at Artebakarra (147 meters), Gerekiz (190 meters), and Morga (343 meters).
125 Km – Vivero: For those seeking an additional challenge, this third route adds a 464-meter climb to Vivero. An ideal choice for experienced cyclists with the right technique for a thrilling descent with spectacular views of Bilbao.

Erandio, Getxo, Sopelana, Plentzia, Asteinza, Butrón, Asua, Sondika, Derío, Zamudio, Mungia, Fruiz, Labarretzu, Galdakao, Etxebarri.

Departure and arrival times
The starting point of the Bilbao-Bilbao March 2020 will be at the Deusto Bridge next to the Zubiarte Shopping Center, located at Leizaola Lehendakariaren Kalea, number 2, in Bilbao. Participants can choose from 5 staggered departures every 15 minutes, starting from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. It’s recommended to select the departure time according to the participant’s expected speed. The earlier the start time, the easier the march will be. The lead car will depart at 8:00 a.m. and will complete the 115 km route at an average speed of 27.5 kilometers per hour. The route must be completed between 12:15 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The finish line is at the end of Gran Vía, at Sagrado Corazón.
