Transgrancanaria 2025: Route, registrations, and dates

One of the most important long-distance mountain races in the world, the Transgrancanaria 2025, is coming soon with confirmed dates. A highly anticipated event for athletes from all over the world. The goal: to compete in different modalities through the most beautiful natural areas of Gran Canaria. The event, which gathered 4,100 athletes from around the world in its 2024 edition, offers different distances and courses according to the levels of difficulty. From the most adventurous, the Transgrancanaria Classic 126km, through the mountain marathon to the most accessible for the whole family. The Transgrancanaria 2025 is an unparalleled adventure and one of the biggest sporting events of the year in Gran Canaria.

Transgrancanaria 2025 Dates:
The Transgrancanaria 2025 will take place from February 19 to 23 with the following schedules:

Classic 126km – Friday, February 21, 2025, at 23:59
Advanced 84km – Saturday, February 22, 09:00
Marathon 46km – Friday, February 21, 09:30
Half 21km – Thursday, February 20, 10:30
Promo 12km – Thursday, February 20, 11:00
Youth 5/10km – Saturday, February 22, 2025, 10:00
Family Trail 5/10km – Saturday, February 22, 2025, 10:00
KV El Gigante – Wednesday, February 19, 15:30

Transgrancanaria 2025 Route:
The route of the Transgrancanaria 2025 varies depending on the modality, with the finish line in Maspalomas for the Marathon, the Transgrancanaria Classic, and the Advanced. The Transgrancanaria Classic starts in Las Palmas, while the Advanced starts in Teror and the Marathon in Tejeda. On the other hand, the route for the Transgrancanaria Half goes from Tunte to Tejeda, while the Promo/Youth and the Family Trail go from Artenara to Tejeda. The Vertical Kilometer El Gigante, with only 5.5km and a positive altitude gain of 1,060 meters, will start from the Agaete Valley to reach Tamadaba.

Registrations for Transgrancanaria 2025:
Registrations for the Transgrancanaria 2025 can be made online through the official website and will be open until January 26, 2021. Athletes from 70 countries will come to Gran Canaria to compete in the race in its different modalities. There are six types of registrations and prices depending on the chosen modality. The prices to participate in the race range from €35 in the family or promo/youth category, through €90 for the Marathon, to €190 for the Classic route, depending on the registration deadline.

All race registrations include a technical shirt, online tracking of each runner. There is also live event broadcasting, medical assistance, insurance, food, massages, rest area, drinks and energy snacks, and prizes.

Modalities and Route of Transgrancanaria 2025:

126 km Classic: This modality has a route of 126 km with a positive altitude gain of 7,000 meters. The maximum time to complete it is 30 hours, so it is a race designed for the most experienced athletes in ultramarathon events. The circuit is part of the Spartan Trail World Championship and will cross Gran Canaria island from coast to coast and from north to south.
80 km Advanced: This race covers 80 kilometers with a positive altitude gain of 4,500 meters. A perfect race for lovers of challenges and competitions, as it requires great physical condition and experience in long-distance mountain races. The route, which will have 6 aid stations, goes from Teror to Maspalomas.
Marathon 46 km: This modality is ideal for marathon enthusiasts, as it will mostly be downhill. The starting point will be in Tejeda and will end in Maspalomas, with a positive altitude gain of 1,850 meters.
Half 21 km: A perfect event for those new to hiking or long-distance mountain races. The maximum time to complete the route, which will start in Tunte and reach Tejeda, is 6:30 hours.
12 km Promo/Youth and Family Trail: Two races between 5 and 10 kilometers designed for young people aged 15 to 20 and families with children. These are perfect modalities for participants who want to try a non-competitive race, and will share the route from Artenara to Tejeda.
