2022 King's Cup Football Final

Final of the Copa del Rey 2022

The 2022 Copa del Rey returns stronger than ever, and most importantly, with an audience! After the prohibition of fan attendance in 2021 due to the alarming state of the pandemic in Spain, the 120th edition of the national competition will welcome the warmth of the crowd at the Estadio de la Cartuja (Sevilla) and experience an intense and fiercely contested day with the best national football.

The stadium has a capacity to hold up to 57,000 spectators and is expected to be packed with fans. Since 2020, the Andalusian capital has been the venue for the cup finals until 2023, a great bet to recover the stadium that cost so much for the Andalusians and to live a new prosperous stage.

Here’s all the information you need to know about the 2022 Copa del Rey final.

Copa del Rey 2022 Semifinals

How the Copa del Rey draw turned out

This year, big teams like FC Barcelona or Real Madrid will not be among the semifinalists, as they were knocked out in earlier rounds. Instead, Rayo Vallecano (0), Athletic Club (23), Real Betis Balompié (2), and Valencia CF (8) have made it to this round.

Athletic (23) is the second club with the most Copa del Rey titles, only behind Barça (31). However, Valencia is the team that won the cup most recently in 2019, against Barcelona. What we can be sure of is the thrilling matches that the four teams will offer, and how closely contested it will be to reach the Estadio de la Cartuja on April 23 in the big final.

The Copa del Rey semifinal draw is as follows:

Rayo Vallecano – Real Betis
Valencia – Athletic Club

The semifinals will be the only matches of the tournament played in a two-legged format. The first leg will take place on February 9 and 10 at Vallecas Stadium and San Mamés Stadium, respectively. The return leg will be held on March 2 and 3 at Mestalla and Benito Villamarín. All matches can be watched on DAZN and Telecinco for free.

Dates and Tickets for Copa del Rey 2022 Final in Seville

The final of the Copa del Rey will take place on April 23, according to the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The big finalists of 2021-2022 are not yet known, as the Copa semifinals are still to be played. Various platforms such as FNAC, Ticket Master, Carrefour, Sport365EVENTS, among others, offer tickets, although most are sold out.

Last year, Barcelona and Athletic Club de Bilbao played the decisive match, with the Catalans winning 4-0 under the leadership of Ronald Koeman. This year, it remains to be seen who will take the title away from FC Barcelona.

How to get to the Estadio de La Cartuja

La Cartuja is the stadium that will host the 2022 Copa del Rey. It is located in the Isla de La Cartuja area, on the outskirts of Seville, a space that hosted the 1992 World Expo and is now home to several university campuses, many companies, and the Olympic Stadium.

The area and the stadium itself have several parking areas, but you can also easily get there by public transport:

Bus: Stops Américo Vespucio (F. de Comunicación), line C1, and Juan Bautista Muñoz – Estadio Olímpico and Leonardo da Vinci, line C2
Train: Estadio Olímpico station, Cercanías line C2

The Estadio de La Cartuja is currently the fifth-largest stadium in Spain by capacity – behind Camp Nou, Bernabéu, Metropolitano, and Benito Villamarín – and the second in Andalusia.
