One of Spain’s most historic races is back this year. The Behobia-San Sebastián is a must-attend event for thousands of national and international runners who put themselves to the test each year in this high-demand sporting event. It’s a 20-kilometer race with elevation that 30,000 runners will challenge in the 59th edition of the event.
Its incredible route, the lively atmosphere that fills the streets of Irún and San Sebastián, and the great organization are some of the factors that have made Behobia one of the most popular races for both regular runners and enthusiasts.
In addition to foot athletes, people with disabilities and experienced skaters also participate in Behobia. Parallel to the event, the Behobia Txiki is also celebrated, a race for children that ranges from 200 meters for the youngest (4-5 years old) to 1.2 kilometers for the older ones (12-13 years old).
Behobia 2024 Dates
This year, the Behobia-San Sebastián race will take place on November 10th, 2024. The iconic race will begin at different times depending on the runner’s category:
10:00 AM for foot runners
9:30 AM for wheelchair runners
9:35 AM for skaters
On the other hand, the Behobia kids’ race will take place on November 9th at the Anoeta mini-stadium.
Behobia Race Route
Behobia is a challenging race with a complex route, including two important climbs at Gaintxurizketa (kilometer 7) and Miracruz (kilometer 16), along with several ascents and descents. The positive elevation is 192 meters.
The race starts in the neighborhood of Behobia in Irún, passing through the lively streets full of spectators. It then continues with the climb to Gaintxurizketa, the descent to the village of Errenteria, and passes through Pasaia, a beautiful town with a bay and port.
Entering San Sebastián, runners climb to Miracruz through the Herrera neighborhood and continue downhill toward the city center, just two kilometers away. The runners finish by the Zurriola beach, reaching Alameda del Boulevard, where the finish line is located.
Registrations for Behobia 2024
Anyone over the age of 16 can participate in Behobia by registering online, including regular runners, solidarity bibs, general public, and tourist packages.
Registration for Behobia 2024 is now closed. In just 6 hours, a total of 17,300 registrations were made, exhausting all available spots and reaching a total of 27,000 runners.
The registration for the Behobia race includes a Luanvi t-shirt featuring a design that represents the route as a treasure map, made with Cool-skin technology to ensure quick drying of sweat.

The general registration price for the race is 50€.

Objective 50/50/25
Behobia San Sebastián has a major goal for the coming years, aspiring to become a gender-balanced race by 2025, meaning that 50% of the participants will be women. Through this initiative, the goal is to raise awareness that there are no physical or legal barriers for women to participate in sports.
Currently, the percentage of female athletes registered is 29.7%, compared to 70.3% men. In the kids' race, the percentage of girls reaches 46%. Although these figures are becoming more balanced each year, there’s still a long way to go to push and consolidate this change.
