The 47th Annual Meeting of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation will take place in Madrid from March 14 to 17. This is the meeting for hundreds of health professionals, including doctors, industry representatives, nurses, quality management groups, cell processing technicians, medical trainees, pharmacists, psychologists, and a group of data administrators.
Registration for Members and Non-Members
To participate in this great event, you must present proof of professional status or student status, and if you reside in a low- or middle-income country, a letter of residence. Registration for EBMT 2021 begins on December 13, 2020, and ends on February 23. Be sure to register early to save some euros and enjoy early registration until January 12, 2021.
Free Registration for EBMT
If you are a nurse at a transplant center that is a member of EBMT in Spain, you can register for free. If you belong to a Latin American EBMT center, both a doctor and a nurse can register for free. The congress will also have 30 patient advocates who can attend for free, in addition to the Patient, Family, and Donor Day.
EBMT Webinars
The entry-level database training sessions will be virtual and take place on different dates. Once you complete your registration, you will have access to all EBMT sessions, except for the Statistics Course, which you can purchase separately. EBMT 2021 will have a program covering key issues about hematopoietic cell transplantation (HSCT), with over 170 sessions and 300 national and international speakers. March 14
The congress starts with the opening session, with speeches by the EBMT president, the congress president, and the nurses' group president. Honorary members also give speeches and recognize clinical achievements. At the end of the day, the keynote lecture will be held.
March 15
All sessions on Cell Therapy and Psy Day will be held on March 15. Here, biological technicians, doctors, and psychologists evaluate the effects of treatments at both physical and behavioral levels. EBMT, together with the World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA), creates networks among the transplant coordinator community with a session focused on HLA and donor selection. The logistics of stem cell transportation, donor-related issues, and post-transplantation topics will be covered on the second day of the congress.
March 16
On March 16, a working group on pediatric diseases and congenital errors will present educational sessions and selected oral summaries. Pharmacists and doctors working in BMT and HSCT will meet to share their latest ideas and discuss with other professionals in the field. Quality management sessions focus on transplant quality, where experts discuss these topics in an intimate environment, taking place in the Meet the Expert rooms in the morning.
March 17
Throughout the day, educational database entry training sessions will take place. The Patient Advocacy sessions will be held on Wednesday afternoon, allowing transplant patients, their families, and donors to share their experiences. They will also learn about the latest research outcomes from a group of specialists. The Stakeholder Forum on innovative cell therapies aligns regulatory science, practice, and health economics with different viewpoints. This session promotes accessibility to cell therapies.
