Javier Mariscal is above all a creator of images. He develops his work using all kinds of supports and disciplines (comic, illustration, graphic design, industrial and textile forms, painting, sculpture, multi-media, entertainment and interior design). Mariscal was born in Valencia in 1950. In 1971, he moved to Barcelona where he studied graphic design at the Escola Elisava. In the late 1970s, he launched his professional career with several artistic exhibitions and began his work in design for the textile industry, graphic illustration, furniture and interior design. In 1988, he produced the winning design for Cobi, the mascot of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. One year later, in 1989, he founded Estudio Mariscal in a former tanning factory, with a team of employees capable of developing his work on a larger scale.
