From the hotel you can see the entire Cantabrian sea, with the marvellous bay of Sardinero. The perfect location for taking a walk down the coast until you reach the Palacio de la Magdalena.
Motorway A8 (Bilbao-Santander) is the most advisable route to get from the East or Southeast of the peninsula.
Motorway S-20 (Bezana-Santander) is a branch of the Northern motorway which accesses the city via the North and ends up in Sardinero.
The N-611 (Palencia-Santander) is the simplest way to access this area from the Spanish Meseta (plateau). It is also the safest in the event of poor weather conditions.
The N-623 (Burgos-Santander) which crosses El Escudo port, on the border between Burgos and Cantabria. This is complicated when there is ice or fog.
The N-634 (Irún -La Coruña) is the only main route from the provinces adjacent to Cantabria on the West.
You can get here from any of the Spanish provinces, using the companies Alsa, Continental Auto, Viacarsa and Bilman Bus. The bus station is in the city centre.
